I specialize in business and non-fiction writing. The Process It all starts with an initial conversation. The chemistry between the Author and the Ghostwriter is a key success factor. You will have to trust that I can comprehend the message you are trying relay and capture your voice. I will have to trust that I can ask questions freely, clarify, and ensure that I understand so that I can help others understand. Timeline Plan for a year depending upon the content. A year is a long time to work together on an intimate project. Investing some time in making sure that the partnership is sound will reap strong dividends. A gauge for what my rate will be is approximately $1.00 per word. The Length Business books generally range from 30,000 to 60,000 words although I've worked on books that are as short as 10,000. Readers now want to consume ideas quickly. They want to understand the message in the time it takes on a cross-continental flight. |
How long Will It take to write my book?
A business book or nonfiction book can be written as quickly as 30 days. There are instances where it might take more than a year. We will build a plan.
WHat is the Process?
What's the First Step?
After we;ve spent some time on the phone, and I've met your team if applicable, I will draft an outline including chapter titles for your review and approval. During this time, the book's title will also begin to emerge. I'll keep a running list of titles until the right title presents itself.
Then What Happens?
I will draft a timeline for your review. We will continue with weekly recorded phone calls to discuss the content. I will draft the chapters for your your review. Once the entire book is complete, I will refresh the draft based on any comments or input. Further drafts, if required, will be billed at an hourly rate.
When Do I Pay?
A deposit of $10,000 is required to get started. The deposit includes 16 hours of strategy sessions, a draft of the outline including chapter titles and a working title. It also includes a reader biography and purpose statement. The reader biography is an important step in understanding who the book is for. The Purpose Statement keeps the work grounded. Once this is completed, further billing will occur at pre-determined milestones.
Will My Book Be a Success?
The first step in a successful book, is creating a well-written book. The well-written book will then have a life of it's own. It may be successful right away, it may be used as a marketing tool, it may open up public speaking opportunities or find a new audience for your work.
How Will The Book Be Marketed?
Having a sound marketing plan will be key to your success. Even the most established authors market their own books. I will have several ideas for you.
How Will My Book Be Published?
There are no barriers today to publishing your book. You can choose to self-publish, use a hybrid publisher or pitch your concept to a traditional publisher. I can help you navigate the waters of publishing and select the channel that is right for you.
NonFiction Proposal Rates
A detailed proposal is required when pitching your nonfiction or business book to an agent or publisher. Book proposals contain details about your book concept, an outline, a marketing strategy, a competitive analysis, and sample chapters. The fee for a non-fiction or business book proposal including a query letter is $25,000.
